Gromada, the developer that brought you the powerful multimedia converter VideoMach, offers you a handy and free multimedia player called Imagen. The application was initially developed for users who needed a means of playing HAV files. Nowadays, it provides support for many more formats. And the party trick Imagen has to offer is that it detects sequentially numbered images and plays them as a video.

Before starting to use Imagen, you should know that there are two other things you are going to like about it. First of all, you are going to like that getting the application off the web and onto your computer will only take a moment. How long can it take for a 1.7MB download to complete? Not long, even on a less than spectacular internet connection. The second thing you’re going to like is that installing the application is a simple process and that Imagen works with just about any version of the Microsoft-developed Windows operating system.

You can use Imagen on a Windows-powered computer to view image and video files. The application provides support for AC3, AVI, DIVX, IVF, BAY, BMP, BID, CINE, FLC, FLI, GIF, HAV, JPEG, MP3, OGG, OGV, PCX, PNG, TGA, TIFF, WAV, WMA, WMV, XMP, and other file types.

As mentioned above, Imagen’s party trick is that it can play sequentially numbered images and play them as a video. If inside a folder the images are named image0001, image002, image003 and so on, open image001 and Imagen will automatically detect the other images and will play them one after another. You will need this sort of functionality if you want to turn a bunch of images into a video; with Imagen, you can preview how the video will look like. Coincidently, the abovementioned application VideoMach can also turn images into videos (and more).

Imagen is freeware, meaning that you can use the application for free for as long as you want.

If you need a free, easy to use application that can play sequentially numerated images as if they were a video, then you have found it – the app’s name is Imagen.

Pros

Lightweight download size, simple installation process. The interface is typical of what you would expect from a media player. Imagen provides support for a long list of file formats and it can play sequentially numerated images as if they were a video file. Imagen is freeware.

Cons

No full screen support (you can only maximize the Imagen window when playing a video).
